MAKS 9671 FLOCCULANT FOR JUICE CLARIFICATION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
MAKS 9671 is a high molecular weight, anionic powder flocculant readily soluble in water.
PRINCIPAL USES
MAKS 9671 is used as a flocculant in the clarification and filtration of sugar cane juice.
PRODUCT BENEFITS
MAKS 9671 was developed to increase settling rate and thereby reducing the retention time in the clarification stage.
DOSAGE & FEEDING
Preparation: A 0.1% solution should be prepared (1 kg per 1000 liters of soft water at a temperature of 50-60°C) in a
mixing tank filled with air spurge pipe, eductor or slow speeed paddle for agitation of no more than 400 rpm.
The solution should be aged for a minimum of 2 hours in a holding tank. Enough should be made up for one shift or one day’s operation (but no more) as floccualnt solution will lose its activity after 24 hours.
Use: MAKS 9671 should be added to the limed juice before entry into the clarifier. Best results are achieved by allowing the flocculant solution 2-3 minutes of gentle mixing with the process stream before entering the clarifier, via an in-line mixer. Recommended dosage 1-3ppm on juice weight.
Your BIMAKS representative will recommend the optimum dosage necessary to ensure maximum program performance according to your specific system parameters.
MATERIALS: Storage and application equipment (pumps, lines) should be made of Stainless Steel, PVC, PP, PE, Cast Iron or Viton. Do not use Aluminium, Galvanised metals or Zinc in contact with the neat product.
HANDLING-STORAGE-SHIPPING
As a standard precaution with all chemicals we recommend the use of protective equipment such as goggles and rubber gloves when handling. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet as the only official source of Environmental and Safety information.
The product can be stored 24 months from date of shipping if kept in its original, unopened container and under normal warehouse conditions. Protect from freezing and from exposure to high temperature.
MAKS 9671 is available in non-returnable containers of different sizes.
APPLICATION METHOD AND QUANTITY
The dosage quantity of the product changes according to the operating conditions and water chemistry of the system. BIMAKS representative will propose the appropriate dosage quantity to ensure maximum conditioning performance based on the distributed system parameters.
