MAKS 9180 IRON STABILIZER

MAKS 9180 IRON STABILIZER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

MAKS 9180 is a liquid iron sequestrant used in acidizing and other iron stabilizing operations.

APPLICATION

MAKS 9180 should be used when acidizing formations which contain iron minerals or when iron scale is present in pipe or tubing. In many areas, the majority of wells will have significant amounts of iron scale and corrosion products inside the well tubing; for this reason iron stabilizers should be used in most acid treatments.

Acid pumped into a well dissolves rust, iron scale and iron-bearing formation minerals. The iron remains in solution until the acid is spent and the pH of the fluid begins to rise. As the pH of the spent acid nears 2, the ferric iron (valence+3), which normally accounts for about 20% of the total iron, precipitates as ferric hydroxide. Ferric hydroxide is a shiny, gelatinous mass which can plug formation permeability, reducing oil/gas production. When MAKS 9180 is used as an acid additive, the formation of ferric hydroxide precipitate is inhibited. The dissolved iron and other acid reaction products remain in solution and are removed from the formation as the well flows back and cleans up.

MAKS 9180 in a stabilized acid, acts as a complexing agent to keep dissolved iron in solution after the acid is spent.

In alkaline fluids, an excess of the product prevents the precipitation of many iron hydroxides. MAKS 9180 is compatible with virtually all inhibitors.

DOSAGE

Two gallons of MAKS 9180 per 1000 gallons of acid or other fluid will complex approximately 500 ppm of ferric iron.

Your BIMAKS representative will recommend the optimum dosage necessary to ensure maximum program performance according to your specific system parameters.

HANDLING-STORAGE-SHIPPING

As a standard precaution with all chemicals we recommend the use of personal protective equipments such as goggles and rubber gloves when handling. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet as the only official source of Environmental and Safety information.

MAKS 9180 can be stored for at least 24 months from date of shipping if kept in its original, unopened container and under normal warehouse conditions. Protect from freezing and from exposure to high temperature.

MAKS 9180 is available in non-returnable containers of different sizes.

APPLICATION METHOD AND QUANTITY

The dosage quantity of the product changes according to the operating conditions and water chemistry of the system. BIMAKS representative will propose the appropriate dosage quantity to ensure maximum conditioning performance based on the distributed system parameters.
