COOLING WATER TREATMENT

MAKS 4160 MICROORGANISM CONTROL AGENT

MAKS 4160 MICROORGANISM CONTROL AGENT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

MAKS 4160 is an aqueous solution that develops bromine when mixed with chlorine or hypochlorite and it also contains an effective biodispersant. Since MAKS 4160 as delivered is not a biocide, it is safe to handle.

PRINCIPAL USES

MAKS 4160 is used to enhance chlorine activity in cooling water systems. MAKS 4160 is used in combination with chlorine to control the macro and microbiological growth in cooling water, in industrial water pre-treatment plants and to sterilize waste water from industrial and municipal treatment plants. This product can be particularly useful in situations where biological control cannot be obtained within the regular chlorination limits.

PRODUCT BENEFITS

MAKS 4160 effectively penetrate and remove slime deposits
Helps maximize heat transfer efficiency
Helps extend exchanger tube life
Can reduce halogen residual in the discharge
Minimizes gaseous chlorine or liquid bleach usage
Boosts the action of chlorine
Helps controlling macro and microbiological growth with minimum halogen residual
Fast and efficient also at high pH and in presence of ammonia
Performs as an active bio-dispersant

DOSAGE

The specific dosage of MAKS 4160 will vary depending upon the operating characteristics of your system, the water chemistry, and the severity of problems encountered.
Your BIMAKS representative will recommend the optimum dosage necessary to ensure maximum program performance according to your specific system parameters.

FEEDING

MAKS 4160 should first be combined with the chlorine source (dissolved gaseous chlorine or liquid sodium hypochlorite) prior to application to the treated system. MAKS 4160 should be fed neat directly into the bleach feed line or chlorinator drive water line. A feed position upstream of the chlorine injection point is preferred. MAKS 4160 should be fed via a closed feed system. A closed feed system is defined as a system in which fluid is moved from a closed storage vessel into a treated media without exposure to the atmosphere except through normal venting or pressure relief devices. If drive water is combined with bleach/MAKS 4160 mixture, be aware that hardness may precipitate in drive water line due to the high pH of bleach. Use “soft” drive water if possible.
MATERIALS: Storage and application equipment (pumps, lines) should be made of Buna-N, Hypalon, Kynar, Neoprene, Nickel, Plasite (6000 + 7122), PE, PP, PU, PVC, SS304, SS316, Teflon, Vinyl or Viton. Do not use aluminum, brass or carbon steel in contact with the neat product.

HANDLING-STORAGE-SHIPPING

As a standard precaution with all chemicals we recommend the use of personal protective equipments such as goggles and rubber gloves when handling. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet as the only official source of Environmental and Safety information.
MAKS 4160 can be stored for at least 24 months from date of shipping if kept in its original, unopened container and under normal warehouse conditions. Protect from freezing and from exposure to high temperature.
MAKS 4160 is available in non-returnable containers of different sizes.
