BOILER WATER TREATMENT

MAKS 1220 SCALE AND CORROSION INHIBITOR

MAKS 1220 SCALE AND CORROSION INHIBITOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

MAKS 1220 is a boiler feedwater treatment containing a special blend of synthetic organic polymers, phosphates and alkalizing agents in liquid form.

PRINCIPAL USES

MAKS 1220 is designed for maximum scale and deposit inhibition in boilers running with demineralized, softened water or RO-permeate at high temperatures and pressures up to 40 bars. MAKS 1220 does not contain volatile ingredients and contains only FDA approved ingredients which is suitable for food industry (including dairies).

PRODUCT BENEFITS

  • Supports internal metal passivation in feedwater and boiler system – essentially non-corrosive to boiler internals
  • Reduces deposits, resulting in more efficient heat transfer, energy savings and fewer acid cleanings
  • Increases boiler water alkalinity

DOSAGE

The specific dosage of MAKS 1220 varies depending on the operating characteristics of your system and the water chemistry. For complete boiler water treatment MAKS 1220 should be used with an oxygen scavenger program.

Your BIMAKS representative will recommend the optimum dosage necessary to ensure maximum program performance according to your specific system parameters.

FEEDING

MAKS 1220 must be fed continuously; any interruption in feed will result in scale or deposit formation and possible tube failure. MAKS 1220 should be fed preferably after the oxygen scavenger injection point.  If feedwater is used for steam attemperation, the product must be fed downstream of the attemperation water takeoff. MAKS 1220 should not be mixed with oxygen scavengers or filming inhibitors.

Condensate tank or deaerated feedwater containing an oxygen scavenger residual is preferred as injection point for MAKS 1220. A stainless steel quill extending beyond the internal surfaces of the feedwater line should be used.

MATERIALS: Storage and application equipments (pumps, lines) should be made of stainless steel 304 or 316, PP, PE, PVC, PTFE, Hypalon, Viton, Neoprene or cast iron. Do not use aluminum, copper, brass, natural rubber, polyester, zinc or nylon in contact with the neat product.

HANDLING-STORAGE-SHIPPING

As a standard precaution with all chemicals we recommend the use of personal protective equipments such as goggles and rubber gloves when handling. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheet as the only official source of Environmental and Safety information.

MAKS 1220 can be stored for at least 24 months from date of shipping if kept in its original, unopened container and under normal warehouse conditions. Protect from freezing and from exposure to high temperature.

MAKS 1220 is available in non-returnable containers of different sizes.

APPLICATION METHOD AND QUANTITY

The dosage quantity of the product changes according to the operating conditions and water chemistry of the system. BIMAKS representative will propose the appropriate dosage quantity to ensure maximum conditioning performance based on the distributed system parameters.
